The Rubicon Toolbox Test Pit Report allows reporting of visual, field, and laboratory test results and indicators from multiple test pits.
The Test Pit Report tool allows you to create reports to display detailed data collected at each test pit and to present the data simultaneously in a summary report.
These reports are typically included as an appendix in materials, geotechnical investigation and design reports. The Summary View offers the flexibility to include background plots (e.g. as-built pavement structure) and is a powerful qualitative analytical tool, that can effectively complement decisions such as design layer thickness, representative material layer quality, recycling depth etc.
Getting Started
The Test Pit Report is accessed through the Reporting Tools icon on the Rubicon Toolbox Online Tools.
If this is the first time you are using the Online Tools, you will need to set up a project by clicking on the Manage Projects link and create a new project. Alternatively, you can use an existing project if one has already been created.
Once you have created a new project or selected an existing project, click on the Reporting Tools icon and select Test Pit Report from the list. A Test Pit Report page will open.   To start, download the example template, enter the relevant data and save the template.
Follow the instructions provided to complete the Excel template. You can enter as many Test Pits as you like, with 2 blank rows between each one as shown in the template. Each Test Pit must have a unique key in column A.
You have the option of including photos with the Test Pit data where each photo will correspond to a specific Test Pit. As mentioned previously, follow the template instructions carefully.
The patterns (legends) will show in the Summary View in the order in which they are given in the template.
Running the Analysis
Once you have completed the template, proceed with the following steps to complete the analysis.
By default, the Test Pit Report will display in Single View, i.e. you will be able to view one Test Pit at a time. For guidelines on viewing multiple Test Pits at a time, use the Summary View.
Note, for a new analysis, the Save option is initially inactive. Once an analysis is saved for the first time using Save as, the save option becomes active. To overwrite an existing saved analysis, click on Save. To save as an alternative analysis, click on Save as. Alternatively, you can clone your analysis, from the Online Tools page, and rename it as needed.
The report can be copied to the clipboard by right clicking on the report and selecting Copy image or Save image as. The image can then be inserted into a document of your choice e.g. Word, Excel. Alternatively, click on Export To Word to download your reports to a word document.
